Why buy a laptop with 64GB memory?

Why would you buy a laptop with 64GB RAM? A memory module, also called the internal memory, is an important component for a fast and proper operation of your laptop. You don’t need a lot of working memory for browsing, text processing, listening to music or streaming movies and series. When you use your laptop intensively and use memory demanding applications, more memory offers a solution. A lot of memory is ideal for gamers, hypervisors and multitaskers.

64GB RAM is recommended for, among other things, running many Virtual Machines (VMs). Virtual Machines are virtual computers with their own OS that run on the host (the laptop). These VMs all use a piece of the internal memory. The internal memory can therefore quickly reach its maximum when you have heavy or multiple VMs running. That is why we recommend using a minimum of 32GB of memory for virtual machines and in order not to run short we recommend 64GB of RAM on the laptop.

A lot of memory can be ideal for the gamer. Do you like to play games and are you also streaming, do you have chat programs open, web browsers? In that case too, a minimum of 32GB of memory is recommended, with advice to choose 64GB so that you will not run out of memory and have enough buffer at peak times.

Tabs, tabs and more tabs. Are you a real multitasker and do you like to leave a lot of tabs open in Firefox or Chrome? Then a lot of memory is required. Firefox and Chrome are real memory drainers and you can get quickly into ‘memory problems’ without realising it. That’s why you should buy a laptop with a lot of memory so that you can avoid freezings.

What is memory RAM?

Computer random access memory (RAM) is one of the most important components in determining the performance of your system. RAM allows applications to store data for short periods of time. It stores the information that your system is actively using so that it can be accessed quickly. The more programs you have running on the laptop, the more memory is required.

With memory, a system can perform many of its daily tasks, such as loading applications, surfing the internet, editing a spreadsheet or playing a game. Memory also allows you to quickly switch between these different tasks. As a rule, the more memory you have, the faster the system runs.
