What is a Linux mini PC?

A mini PC is a full desktop computer in a compact case, often no bigger than a lunchbox. Inside sits capable hardware running Linux instead of Windows, giving you a fast, secure and privacy-friendly computer that takes up almost no space and runs silently.

Unlike an off-the-shelf mini PC, a Linux mini PC from Laptop with Linux arrives ready to use. Your chosen distribution is installed, the hardware is tested, and where needed we've added our own drivers.

Linux mini PC

Who is a Linux mini PC for?

A Linux mini PC is versatile. These are the situations where it shines:

Work computer

Browsing, email, documents and video calls, at home or in the office.

Media center

Silent and power-efficient behind your TV, quiet enough to run around the clock.

Home server

For Nextcloud, Home Assistant or your own test environment.

Developers

A stable Linux environment without a big tower on your desk.

School or business

Set up multiple energy-efficient workstations without the bulk.

Why buy a mini PC from us?

You can install Linux on almost any mini PC, so why buy one preinstalled? Three reasons that matter once you've actually done it.

We install and test your distribution before it ships

Your mini PC only leaves our workshop once your chosen distribution is installed and all the hardware is tested, from WiFi and Bluetooth to the ports. If something doesn't work as expected, that's our problem to solve, not a Linux forum thread for you to dig through.

We tune the hardware for Linux

We pick components that work well with Linux and add our own drivers where needed. You don't get hardware that Linux happens to run on — you get hardware tuned for Linux.

We install what you want, not what the brand ships

Choose from Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora and many other distributions, or a clean "no OS" if you'd rather install it yourself. No bloatware, no tracking, no vendor utilities to switch off first.

Available Linux distributions on every mini PC

Your mini PC is small, but your choice isn’t. Every distribution we offer runs comfortably on this compact, efficient hardware, and we preinstall, configure and test the one you pick before it ships. Whether you want a familiar desktop, a lightweight system for an always-on media center, or a server-friendly base, there’s a fit.

Choose a mini PC with Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, Debian, Manjaro, Zorin OS, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, elementary OS, KDE neon, EndeavourOS, MX Linux, Ubuntu Studio or Kali Linux.

Rather set it up yourself? Pick “no OS” when you configure your mini PC and you’ll receive clean hardware, ready for whatever you want to install, including Windows if you bring your own licence.

VAT for EU customers

Through the EU's One Stop Shop (OSS) scheme, we charge VAT at the rate of your country of delivery — automatically calculated at checkout based on your shipping address. No surprises, no separate VAT filings on your end.

EU businesses with a valid VAT ID can check out VAT-free. Enter your VAT ID at checkout and VAT is automatically removed under the reverse-charge mechanism.

VAT for non-EU customers

For non-EU destinations (USA, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, etc.), the 21% Dutch VAT is automatically deducted at checkout once you enter your shipping address. Local sales tax or import duties may be collected by DHL on delivery, depending on the destination.

UK consumers: we charge 20% UK VAT at checkout, which we pay directly to UK Customs via DHL Express on your behalf. No additional VAT is owed on delivery.

UK businesses with a valid VAT ID can enter it at checkout — VAT is then automatically removed. You'll pay import VAT yourself when the package clears UK Customs, which you can then reclaim through HMRC.

Shipping outside the EU? DHL handles customs clearance on your behalf — you don't need to do anything. Most countries apply local sales tax or import duties on imported electronics, which DHL will collect on delivery if applicable. For an exact quote including any expected duties, contact our customer service with your country and postal code.

Frequently asked questions about Linux mini PCs

Can I choose which Linux distribution comes preinstalled?

Yes. You pick your distribution when you configure your mini PC — Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, Zorin OS and more. We install it, set it up and test the hardware, so everything works the moment you first switch it on. Prefer to install it yourself? Choose "no OS".

Will all my peripherals work under Linux?

For nearly all hardware: yes. Monitors, USB peripherals, external drives and printers work virtually without issue. The rare exceptions are very specific smartcard readers or fingerprint sensors. Unsure about a particular device? Send us the make and model number and we'll check it for you.

Is a mini PC powerful enough for everyday use?

For browsing, email, office work, video calls and media, a mini PC is more than enough. Depending on the model you can also use it for heavier tasks or as a development machine. Not sure which configuration fits you? We're happy to advise.

Can I use a Linux mini PC as a home server or media center?

Absolutely. A mini PC is power-efficient and silent, so it's well suited to running day and night. Many customers use one as a media center behind the TV or as a small home server, for example for Nextcloud or Home Assistant.

Can I upgrade the memory or storage later?

On many models you can upgrade or replace the RAM and SSD yourself — exactly what Right to Repair is about. Whether it's possible on a specific model is listed in the product details, and you can always ask us.

Can I install Windows later if I want to?

Yes, our mini PCs fully support Windows 11. You only need to provide your own licence, as we don't include one.

What does shipping cost and where do you deliver?

Free shipping in the EU and UK with DHL Express, and we insure every shipment. We deliver worldwide — shipping costs for destinations outside the EU and UK are shown at checkout once you enter your address. Because we hand-assemble and test every mini PC, the expected lead time is listed on the product page.
