In practice, yes — for two reasons. The vast majority of malware is written for Windows, since most computer users run Windows. So just by running Linux, you're already outside most attack vectors. Additionally, Linux has a stricter permission model and you almost always install software from signed repositories rather than loose .exe files from the internet. That doesn't make Linux invulnerable — but the bar for attackers is significantly higher.
